RESOLUTION NO. 6936 (CCS)
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA APPROVING THE APPLICATION FOR GRANT FUNDS UNDER
THE REGIONAL COMPETITIVE PROGRAM OF THE CALIFORNIA PARK
AND RECREATIONAL FACILITIES ACT OF 1984 FOR DEVELOPMENT
OF STEWART STREET PARK - PHASE IV.
WHEREAS, the people of the State of Californ~a have enacted
the the Californ~a Park and Recreat~onal Facil~t~es Act of 1984,
wh~ch prov~des funds to the State of Californ~a and its polit~cal
subdivisions for develop~ng fac~l~t~es for publ~c recreat~onal
purposes; and
WHEREAS, the State Department of Parks and Recreat~on has
been delegated the responsib~l~ty for the adm~nistration of the
program w~th~n the state, sett~ng up necessary procedures govern-
ing appllcatlon by local agenc~es under the program; and
WHEREAS, sald procedures establlshed by the State Department
of Parks and Recreation requlre the applicant to certlfy by
resolution the approval of applications before submission of
sald appl~cat~ons to the state; and

WHEREAS, the Clty deslres to make an application under sald
procedures for the developmen~ of the Stewart S~reet Park - Phase
IV; and
WHEREAS, sald applications contaln assurances that the appll-
cant must comply with; and
WHEREAS, the applicant agency will enter lnto an agreement
wlth the State of Callfornla for development, rehabilitation or
restoratlon of the proJect; and
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City Councl1 approves the fl1lng of an ap-
pllcatlon for 1984 state grant assistance for the above proJec~.
SECTION 2. The City Councll certlfles that the Clty under-
stands the assurances and cer~lflcatlon in the appllcatlon.
SECTION 3. The City Councll certlfles that the Clty has or
wlll have sufflclent funds to operate and maintain the project lf
the proJect is selected for state grant fundlng.

SECTION 4. The Clty Councl1 certifies that the Clty wll1
provide construction plans and speclflcations to the state withln
one year of the approprlation of funds under this program and
will commence work lmmediately after state approval.
SECTION 5. The City Councl1 appoints the City Manager as
agent of the City of Santa Monlca to conduct all negotlatlons,
execute and submlt all documents lncludlng but not 11mited to
appllcatlons, agreements, amendments, payment requests, and so
on, WhlCh may be necessary for the completion of the aforemen-
tloned proJect.
SECTION 6. The Clty Council appoints the Planning Director
as Plannlng Agency Representatlve for sald agency wlth authorlza-
tlon to slgn the appllcatlon form cover page.
SECTION 7. The City Clerk shall certlfy to the adoptlon of
thlS resolutlon and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
ln full force and effect.
