A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF S~NT~ MONIC~ PROCLAIMING THE
CONTINUED EXISTENCE OF THE LOCAL EMERGENCY
WHEREAS,
MunICIpal
Code SectIon 2305 authorIzes the
DIrector of Emergency SerVIces to procldIm the eXIstence or
threatened eXIstence of a local emergency when the CIty of Santa
MonIca IS affected or lIkely to be affected by a public calamIty
and the CIty CouncIl IS not In seSSIon; and
----
WHEREAS, commenCIng on January 27, 1983, condItions of
extreme p~rll to the safety of persons and property have arIsen
WIthIn the CIty of Santa MonIca caused by storm, hIgh tIdes, and
heavy surf; and
WHEREAS, the CIty CouncIl was not In seSSIon on January 27,
1983; and
WHEREAS, on January 27, 1983, the DIrector of Emergency
SerVIces of the CIty of Santa MonIca dId proclaIm the eXIstence
of a local emergency WIthIn the CIty of Santa MonIca; and
WHERF.AS, on February 1, 1983, the CIty CouncIl adopted

WHEREAS, commenCIng on March 1, 1983, cond1t1ons of extreme
per11 to the safety of persons and property have ar1sen WIthIn
the CIty of Santa MonIca caused by storm, high tides, and heavy
surf; and
WHEREAS, thp CIty CouncIl was not in seSSIon at the tIme of
condItIons gIVIng rlse to the emergency; and
WHEREAS, on March 1, 1983, the DIrector of Emergency
SerVIces of the CIty of Santa MonIca dId proclaIm the eXIstence
of a local emergency WIthIn the CIty of Santa MOnleSj and
WHEREAS, on March 8, 1983, the CIty CouncIl adopted
ResolutIon Number 6642 (CCS), ratIfYIng, confIrmIng, and
apprOVIng, the proclamatIon of local emergency by the DIrector of
Emergency SerVIces; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code SectIon 8630, the CIty
CounCIl has reVIewed the need to contInue the local emergency,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CI'l'Y COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The local emergency as proclaimed by the
DIrector of Emergency SerVIces on January 27, 1983, shall be
deemed to contInue to eXIst 1n the CIty of Santa MonIca unt11 Its
termInatIon IS proclaImed by the CIty CounCIl of the CIty of
Santa MonIca.
SECTION 2. The local emergency as proclaImed by thp
DIrpctor of Emergency SerVIces on March 1, 1983, shall be deemed
to contInue to eXlst 1n the CIty of Santa Monlca untIl Its
termInatIon IS proclaImed by the CIty Council of the CIty of
Santa MonIca.

SECTION 3. The C1ty Clerk shall certify to the adoptlon of
th1s Resolutlon} and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
in full force and effect.
