RESOLUTION NO. 7227

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA MONICA AUTHORIZING THE DESTRUCTION
OF CERTAIN RECORDS OF THE WATER DEPARTMENT
PURSUANT TO GOVERNMENT CODE SECTION 34090
WHEREAS, it has been determ1ned that certain records of the
Ci ty of San ta Moni ca under the charge of the Ci ty Clerk are no
longer requ1red for public or private purposes; and
WHEREAS tit has been determ~ned that d ispos~ tion of the
records is necessary to conserve storage space and to reduce
staff time, expense, and confusion In handling and informing the
publIC; and
WHEREAS, Section 34090 of the Government Code of the State
of Cali forn Ia author izes the City offl cial hav ing custody to
dispose of any City records and documents which are over two
years old wi thout making a copy thereof after the same are no
longer requIred and upon the written consent of the CIty Attorney
and the approval of the City CouncIl by resolutIon; and
WHEREAS, the CIty Clerk has been designated as the offIcial
custodIan of records 1n the C1ty of Santa Monica; and
WHEREAS, the records identifIed In Exhibit "A" are over two
years old, no longer requIred, and have been approved for
destruction by the department head and CIty Attorney, and
WHEREAS, the City Council has been requested to approve the
destruction of the records identified in Exhibit "An attached
