A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUWCIL OF
THE CITY OF S~NTA MONICA PROCLJ\IMING THE
CONTINUED EXISTENCE OF THE LOCAL EMERGENCY
WHEREAS,

Code Sectlon 2305 author1zes the
DIrector of Emergency Services to proclaim the eX1stence or
threatened existence of a local emergency when the City of Santa
MonIca is affected or likely to be affected by a public calamIty
and the City CounCIl IS not in session; and
WHEREAS, commenc1ng on January 27, 1983, condltions of
extreme perIl to the safety of persons and property have ar1sen
w1th1n the City of Santa Honlca caused by storm, high tides, and
heavy surf; and
WHEREAS, the C1ty Council was not 1n session on January 27,
1983; and
WHEREAS, on January 27, 1983, the Director of Emergency
Services of the City of Santa Honlca did proclaim the existence
of a local emergency WIthin the City of Santa Monica; and
WHEREAS, on February 1, 1983, the CIty CounCIl adopted

WHEREAS, commencing on March 1, 1983, condItIons of extreme
perIl to the safety of persons and property have arIsen WIthin
the City of Santa Monica caused by storm, high tides, and heavy
surf; and
WHEREAS, the Clty CouncIl was not In seSSIon at the time of
condltIons gIVIng rIse to the emergency; and
WHEREAS, on Harch 1, 1983, the Director of Emergency
SerVIces of the CIty of Santa MonIca d1d proclaIm the eXIstence
of a local emergency withIn the C1ty of Santa Monica; and
WHEREAS, on March 8, 1983} the City Council adopted
Resolution Number 6642 (CCS), ratifying, confirming, and
apprOVIng, the proclamatIon of local emergency by the Director of
Emergency SerVIces; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code SectIon 8630, the CIty
Council has reVIewed the need to continue the local emergency}
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The local emergency as proclaimed by the
Director of Emergency SerVIces on January 27, 1983} shall be
deemed to contInue to eXlst 1n the City of Santa Honica until its
termination IS proclaimed by the City Council of the CIty of
Santa MonIca.
SECTION 2. The local emergency as proclaimed by the
DIrector of Emergency SerVIces on March 1, 1983J shall be deemed
to continue to exist in the CIty of Santa Monlca until lts
termlnatlon IS proclaimed by the City CounCIl of the City of
Santa Monica.

SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certlfy to the adoption of
this Resolutlon, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
1n full force and effect.
