RESOLUTION NO. 7815(CCS)

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DECLARING MAY 21-27, 1989 PUBLIC WORKS WEEK
WHEREAS, pUblic works services provided in the City of
santa Monica are an integral part of our ci ti z en I s everyday
lives; and
WHEREAS, the support and understanding of the ci ty I s
citizens are vital to the efficient operation of public works
systems and programs such as civil engineering, traffic
engineering, street cleaning and maintenance, refuse collection,
recycling, household hazardous wastes, public buildinqs, pier and
harbor,
cemetery, water production and distribution,
and
wastewater management; and
WHEREAS, the health, safety, and comfort of the
citizens of the city of Santa Monica greatly depend on these
facilities and services; and
WHEREAS, the quality and effectiveness of these
facilities and services, as well as their planning, design,
construction, and del i very, are dependent upon the efforts and
skills of public works officials; and
WHEREAS, the efficiency of the qualified and dedicated
personnel who staff the public works programs is materially
infl uenced by the people I s a tti tude and understanding of the
importance of the work they perform,

NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. May 21-27, 1989 is hereby proclaimed Public
Works Week in the City of Santa Monica.
SECTION 2. citizens and civic organizations are called
upon to acquaint themselves with the problems involved in
providing our public works and to recognize the contributions
that public works officials make each day to our health, safety,
and comfort.
SECTION 3. The city Clerk shall certify the adoption
of this Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter, the same
shall be in full force and effect.
