A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
AUTHORIZING THE SUBMITTAL OF A FUNDING APPLICATION TO
THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION, CHILD DEVELOPMENT DIVISION
FOR A CHILD CARE LOCAL COORDINATION GRANT
WHEREAS, the State of California, Department of Education,
Child Development Division has issued an APPLICATION FOR LOCAL
COORDINATION GRANTS; and
WHEREAS, the LOCAL COORDINATION GRANT will provide
one-time-only funds for child care planning and coordination
efforts in the city; and
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Monica is considering the
development of a child care master plan that would contain a
multi-faceted approach to child care planning and program
ilnplementation; and
WHEREAS, the city of Santa Monica, has a demonstrated
commitment to support and facilitate the development of child
care; and
WHEREAS, the city of Santa Monica desires to apply to the
state Department of Education for a LOCAL COORDINATION GRANT; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager can act on behalf of the city of
Santa Monica and will sign all necessary documents required to
complete the grant transaction.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City council hereby authorizes the City
Manager to prepare and file a grant application, including all
understandings and assurances contained therein.
SECTION 2. The City Council further authorizes the City
Manager to act in connection with the application, to provide
such additional information as may be required, enter into a
contract and any amendments thereto, and perform any and all
responsibilities in relationship to such contract.
SECTION 3. The city of Santa Monica agrees to contract with
the state of California to facilitate the availability of child
development programs through one-time only funds for child care
planning and coordination activities and to provide the required
matching support of $6,250.00, the equivalent to 25% of amount
granted by the State ($25,000.00).
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
in full force and effect.
