RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA APPROVING THE DEVELOPMENT OF SIXTY-SEVEN UNITS OF
AFFORDABLE SENIOR HOUSING UTILIZING THE AIR-RIGHTS OVER
PARKING LOT FOUR.
WHEREAS, it is the policy of this locality to preserve and
expand the supply of housing affordable to low income senior
citizens; and
WHEREAS, nearly 2, 300 households are on waiting lists for
uni ts in affordable senior developments in the Ci ty and over
2,200 senior households are on the Santa Monica section 8 rental
assistance program waiting list; and
WHEREAS, the parking Authority owns land located at 1116-46
Fourth Street, within the city of Santa Monica, which is commonly
known as Parking Lot Four; and
WHEREAS, the City has determined that the site located at
1116-46 Fourth Street is an appropriate location for an
affordable senior housing project because of its proximity to
public transportation routes, shopping centers and social
services; and
WHEREAS, U. S . Department of Housing and Urban Development
Section 202 Loan program funds are available for senior housing
projects, and

WHEREAS, on February 28, 1989, the Parking Authority adopted
Resolution Number
206
(PAS) approving the development of
sixty-seven units of affordable housing utilizing the air-rights
over Parking Lot Four contingent upon financing from the U. S.
Department of Housing and Urban Development.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City Council approves the development of
sixty-seven units of affordable housing utilizing the air-rights
over Parking Lot Four contingent upon financing from the U. S .
Department of Housing and Urban Development.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
in full force and effect.
