A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA MONICA AUTHORIZING THE SANTA MONICA
POLICE DEPARTMENT TO ADHERE TO THE STATE BOARD
OF CORRECTIONS STANDARDS FOR SELECTION AND
TRAINING FOR CORRECTIONS PROGRAM
WHEREAS, The Legislature created the Board of Corrections in order
to provide leadership and coordination in the field of California
corrections; and
WHEREAS, The Board sets minimum standards for health care
programs, procedures, and construction of local detention
facilities. It has statutory responsibility for establishing
selection criteria and training standards for local jail personnel
and assists in offsetting costs incurred by cities in meeting
training standards; and
WHEREAS, the Standards and Training for Corrections Program (STC)
provides financial assistance annually to participating agencies
and;
WHEREAS, Local agencies that participate in the STC Program agree
to adhere to all program regulations, policies and procedures.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City agrees and declares that for as long as the
City of Santa Monica receives any State Aid pursuant to Section
6040 of the California Penal Code the city of Santa Monica Police
Department will adhere to the standards for selection and training
of corrections officers and jail personnel established by the
Board of Corrections.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
Resolution and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in
full force and effect.
