A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA AUTHORIZING THE SUBMITTAL
OF FUNDING APPLICATION TO THE U.S. DEPARTMENT
OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT FOR SUPPLEMENTAL ASSISTANCE
TO ASSIST THE HOMELESS
WHEREAS,
the U. S .
Department of Housing and Urban
Development has issued a NOTICE OF FUNDS AVAILABILITY FOR
SUPPLEMENTAL ASSISTANCE FOR FACILITIES TO THE HOMELESS: and
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Monica is eligible as a
metropolitan city as classified under Section 102 (a) 4 of the
Housing and Community Development Act of 1974: and
WHEREAS, the City is therefore eligible to apply for
Supplemental Assistance for Facilities to Assist the Homeless
funding: and
WHEREAS, the City Manager can act on behalf of the City of
Santa Monica and will sign all necessary documents required to
complete the grant transaction: and
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Monica is capable of and willing
to apply for funds on behalf of the Ocean Park Community Center
(an eligible, private non-profit organization providing services
in Santa Monica) and supervise implementation and operation of
this organization's services provided pursuant to the grant,

NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
The City Council hereby authorizes the City
Manager to prepare and file a grant application, including all
understanding and assurances contained therein.
SECTION 2.
The City Council further authorizes the City
Manager to act in connection with the application, to provide
additional information as may be required, enter into a contract
and
any
amendments
thereto,
and perform
any
and
all
responsibilities in relation to such a contract.
SECTION 3. The City of Santa Monica agrees to contract with
the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to operate
the funded program on its own behalf and/or supervise and monitor
the funded program on behalf of the Ocean Park Community Center
and to enter into agreements with the Ocean Park Community Center
as necessary to implement the program.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
in full force and effect.
