A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
OF SANTA MONICA AUTHORIZING THE HOLDING OF A
RUNNING RACE ON OCTOBER 2, 1988 ON A ROUTE
OTHER THAN THE OFFICIAL CITY ROUTES AND
WAIVING THE $10,000 RACE FEE
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 15 of Resolution 6688 (CCS), the City
Council may authorl ze a race route di fferent from the off1 ci a 1 City race
routes set forth therein,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That on October 2, 1988, between the hours of 7:00 am
and 9:00 am, partic1pants 1n the S1. Monica's 10 K Run may and are hereby
authorlzed to conduct a runnlng race along the followlng route:
The race will start in Santa Monica on Lincoln Boulevard at
Cal1forn1a Avenue and proceed north to Idaho, west on Idaho to
Fourth Street, north on Fourth Street to Montana Avenue, east on
Montana Avenue to 14th Street, north on 14th Street to Marguerita,
east on Marguerita to 17th Street, north on 17th Street to San
Vicente Boulevard, west on San Vicente Boulevard to Ocean Avenue,
south on Ocean Avenue to Washington Street, east on Washlngton
Street to 7th Street, and south on 7th Street to Cal1fornla Avenue
for the f1nish.
SECTION 2. Permission to conduct the runnlng race is granted upon
the followlng conditions:

A. St. Monlca's wlll pay for and post all signage along the race
route after approval by the City.
B. St. Monica's will notify all resldents one block east and west
or north and south, as well as along the race route, of the event
and of alternatlVe trafflC routes, by first class mallwg, after
approval of letter by City.
C. The Santa Monica Pollce Department wlll provide the necessary
number of pol ice officers for crowd and traffic control along the
race route and the approxl mate $5,900 cost wi 11 be pal d for by
St. Monica's.
O. All barricade and cone rental for marking the course will be
paid for by St. Monica's.
E. St. Mon1ca's shall provlde a certificate of 1nsurance for
$1,000,000 per individual incident, namlng the City of Santa Monica
as an additional insured.
F. St. Monica's will clean up and remove all signage along route
after the race.
G. St. Monica's 15 exempted from paYlng the $10,000 race fee.

SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of thlS
Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full force and
effect.
