A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA MONICA DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO
ORDER THE VACATION OF A PORTION OF DEWEY
STREET, IN THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA,
CALIFORNIA
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Monica
hereby declares its intention to order the vacation of that
portion of Dewey street, 20 feet in width, as shown in Drawing
No. 4413 on file in the Office of the City Engineer, located
between Fourth Court and Fifth Street, shown as an alley in Block
A of Vawter Marine street Tract, in the city of Santa Monica,
County of Los Angeles, State of California, as per map recorded
in Book 9, Page 144 of Maps, in the Office of the County Recorder
of said County, and bounded as follows:
On the Northwest by the Southeasterly line of lot 10 in
Block A of said Tract; on the Northeast by the Northwesterly
prolongation of the Southwesterly line of Fifth Avenue, 60
feet in width, as shown on map of Tract No. 6622 in the City
of Los Angeles, County of Los Angeles, state of California,
as per map recorded in Book 71, page 82 of Maps, in the
office of said County Recorder; on the Southeast by the
Southeasterly line of said Vawter Marine Street Tract, said
Southeasterly line also being the southeasterly boundary
line of the City of Santa Monica; and on the Southwest by

the Southeasterly prolongation of the Southwesterly line of
Lot 10 in Block A of said Vawter Marine Street Tract.
SECTION 2 . The City Council of the City of Santa
Monica, in vacating said portion of Dewey Street, intends to
reserve and except from said vacation an easement over the
southeasterly 11 feet of said portion of Dewey street intended to
be vacated, for the purpose of constructing, maintaining,
operating, replacing, removing and renewing all sanitary sewers,
water mains and other public utility facilities and appurtenant
structures. The City Council of the City of Santa Monica finds
that public convenience and necessity require such reservation.
SECTION 3 . The city council of the City of Santa
Monica, in vacating the above-mentioned portion of Dewey Street,
elects to proceed under and in accordance with the provisions of
the Public Streets, Highways and Service Easements Vacation Law,
Streets and Highways Code Section 8300 et seq.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk is hereby directed to publish
this Resolution in the Evening outlook on two successive dates,
the first publication is to be made not less than fifteen days
prior to the date of the public hearing.
SECTION 5. The hour of 7:30 o'clock p.m. of the 12th
day of April 1988, in the City Council Chambers of City Hall,
santa Monica, California, be and the same hereby is fixed as the
time and place when and where all persons interested in or
obj ecting to the proposed vacation may appear before the city
Council and offer evidence in relation thereto.

SECTION 6. The Superintendent of streets of the City of

Santa Monica hereby is directed to cause Notices of street
vacation to be posted as required by street and Highways Code
section 8323.
SECTION 7. The City Clerk shall certify the adoption of
this Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
in full force and effect.
