A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SA..~TA MONICA
ALTHORIZING THE SL'Bl\'lITTAL OF A.~" APPLICATIO~ TO THE CALIFORNIA
INTEGR.o\TED 'VASTE MANAGEl\IENT BOARD FOR A SUSTAINABLE BUILDING
GRANT
\VHEREAS, PublIc Resources Code SectIOn 42000 authonzes the CalIforma Integrated
\Vaste Management Board to conduct market development actIVItIes to strengthen demand by
manufacturers and end-use consumers for recyclable matenals collected by munIcIpalItIes,
nonprofit organIzatIOns, and pnvate entItles, and
WHEREAS, the concept of

an mtegrated approach whIch encompasses mtegrated waste management objectIves such as
bUlldmg matenal efficIency, constructlOn and demolItIOn waste reductIOn, and maxImIzahon of
re-used and recycled-content bmldmg and landscapmg matenals, and
WHEREAS. on September 8,1999 the Califorma Integrated Waste Management Board
approved the Sustamable BUlldmg ImplementatIon Plan, the Evaluahon Process, Scormg
Cntena, and Preference Cntena for the Sustamable Bmldmg Grant Program, and
WHEREAS, the City of Santa ~omca wIll enter mto an agreement wIth the State of
CalIfornia Waste Management Board for the development of a project to 1) develop green
bUlldmg cntena for affordable housmg developments, 2) tram and educate archItects, developers,
and contractors on green deSIgn methods, and 3) provIde mformatlOn resources on green bmldmg
standards to the housmg development commuruty,

NO\V, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SA. ~T A
IHONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLO'VS:
SECTIOK 1 The CIty CouncIl authonzes the submIttal of an apphcaTIon to the
Cahforma Integrated \Vaste ~1anagement Board for a Sustamable BUIldmg Grant
SECTION 2 The HouSIllg Coordmator or hIs or her desIgnee IS hereby authonzed and
empowered to execute III the name of the CIty of Santa Momca all necessary apphcatlOns,
contracts. payment requests, agreements and amendments hereto for the purposes of secunng
grant funds and to Implement and carry out the purposes speCIfied III the grant applIcaTIon
SECTIOK 3 The CIty Clerk shall certIfy to the adoptlOn OfthlS ResolutlOn, and
thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be III full force and effect
