RESOLUTION NO 9371
(CITY COUNCIL SERIES)
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
AUTHORIZING THE SUBMITTAL OF A PROPOSAL AND THE SIGNING OF A
CONTRACT TO PROVIDE MEAL AND TELEPHONE
REASSURANCE SERVICES FOR ELDERLY PERSONS
WHEREAS, the County of Los Angeles Community and Semor Services has
been awarded Federal funds for prOViding services for the elderly under the Older
Americans Act, and
WHEREAS, the County of Los Angeles IS making available Its Older American Act
funds to cities In the County, and
WHEREAS, the City of Santa MOnica Wishes to apply for Older Americans Act
funds to finance ItS hot lunch program for semors and Its home delivered meals and
telephone reassurance programs for homebound seniors, and
WHEREAS, It IS necessary that the City CounCil of the CIty of Santa MOnica
approve the submittal of a proposal for Older Americans Act funds, and
WHEREAS, It IS necessary that the City CounCil of the CIty of Santa MOnica
designate and authOrize a representative to sign the contract for Older Americans Act
funds on behalf of the City,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS

SECTION 1. The City Council approves the submittal of a proposal to the County of
Los Angeles for Older Americans Act funds to be used for the City's hot lunch program
for senIors and Its home delivered meals and telephone reassurance program for
homebound seniors
SECTION 2 The City Council authOrizes the City Manager to sign the contract for
Older American Act funds and all documents necessary to accompany said contract,
Including any contract amendments dUring the 1999/2000 Fiscal Year.
SECTION 3 The CIty Clerk shall certify to the adoption of thiS Resolution, and
thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be In full force and effect
