A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCI L
OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA SUPPORTING
THE SANTA MONICA-MALlBU UNIFIED
SCHOOL DISTRICT SCHOOL BOND MEASURE
WHEREAS, the Santa MOnlca-Mallbu Unified School District IS one of the most
effective school dlstncts In the State of California, proViding quality education for Its
students and contributing to the overall quality of life of our community, and,
WHEREAS, the Santa MOnlca-Mahbu Unified School Dlstnct has placed a $42
million faclhtles bond Issue to Improve our schools, called PropOSition X, before the voters
on the November 3, 1998 ballot, and,
WH EREAS, PropOSition X IS smart for our children because It Will faCIlitate class size
reduction, create more space for ennchment, and accommodate classroom space for
Increasing enrollment from district reSidents, and,
WHEREAS, PropOSition X IS best for our community because It Will prOVide funds
for earthquake Improvements, reconflgure school playgrounds and restrooms,
NOW, THEREFORE, the City CounCil of the City of Santa MOnica does resolve as
follows
SECTION 1 The City of Santa MOnica endorses PrOpOSition X, the Santa MOnlca-
Mallbu Unified School Dlstnct school bond measure, and urges voters to vote yes on

SECTION 2 The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution, and
thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be In full force and effect
