RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
APPROVING THE APPLICATION FOR GRANT FUNDS FROM
THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY REGIONAL PARK AND OPEN SPACE DISTRICT
SPECIFIED GRANT PROGRAM FOR
SANTA MONICA BEACHES (SOUTH BEACH IMPROVEMENTS) AND
PALISADES PARK IMPROVEMENTS (PHASE II)
WHEREAS. the people of the County of Los Angeles on November 3,1992 and on
November 5. 1996, enacted Los Angeles County ProposItIon A, Safe NeIghborhood Parks,
Gang Prevention. Tree-Planting, Senior and Youth Recreation. Beaches and Wildlife Protection
Act (the Proposition). WhiCh, among other uses, provides funds to public agenCIes and nonprofit
organizations In the County for the purposes of acqUiring and/or developing faCIlities and open
space for publiC recreation. and
WHEREAS. the Proposition created the Los Angeles County Regional Park and Open
Space District (the District) to administer saId funds, and
WHEREAS. the District has set forth the necessary procedures governing applications
for grant funds under the PropositIon, including requiring the Applicant to certify, by resolution,
the approval of the appllcatlon(s) before submiSSion of sard appllcatlon(s) to the Dlstnct, and to
comply WIth assurances contaIned In the applicatIon, and
WHEREAS. the City as Applicant wants to apply for $1 7 mrlhon In grant funds avaIlable
pursuant to the Proposition for Improvements to the South Beach, from the MUniCipal Pier to
Bay Street, and for Improvements to Palisades Park from Arizona Avenue to the northern
terminus.
NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES HEREBY
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS
1 Approves the filing of an application With the Los Angeles County Regional Park and
Open Space District for funds allocated under Section 3(c)(2) AM of the Proposition for
the above-named Project
2 Certifies that the City, as Applicant, understands the assurances and certifications
In the appJrcatlon form
3 Certifies that the City, as Applicant, understands Its obligation to operate and
maintain the property(s) In perpetuity

4 Certifies that the City, as Applicant, will sign and return, wIthin 30 days, both caples
of the project agreement sent by the District for authonzlng signature
5 Authorizes the City Manager, or designee, as agent of the City of Santa Monica to
conduct all negotiations, and to execute and submit all documents Including, but not
limited to, applications, agreements, amendments, payment requests and so forth,
whIch may be necessary for the completion of the project as described In the
applicatIOn
6 The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution, and thenceforth and
thereafter the same shall be In full force and effect
