RESOLUTION NO 9QIQ
(CITY COUNCIL SERIES)
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA MONICA SUPPORTING THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY
PARK, BEACH AND RECREATION ACT OF 1996 AND THE INCLUSION
OF THE SANTA MONICA BEACHFRONT AND COASTAL PARK IMPROVEMENT
PROJECT AS A SPECIFIED PROJECT
WHEREAS, the Los Angeles County Park, Beach and Recreation Act of 1996
would provide approximately $270 million to preserve, Improve, and restore parks,
beaches, and recreation faCIlities county-Wide; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Monica finds that
neighborhood and regional parks within Its boundanes are Vital to the quality of life of
Its reSidents, workforce and VIsitors from throughout the Los Angeles region; and
WHEREAS, the CIty of Santa MOnica IS graced with the SignifIcant natural
resources of Santa MOnica Bay and ItS beaches and prOVides affordable and diverse
recreational amenities to millions of beachgoers each year, and
WHEREAS, the proposed Act would help address the great need for repair and
enhancements to these intenSively used coastal park and beach resources, and
WHEREAS, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Will be asked to place
thiS measure on the November 1996 ballot,
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Santa MOnica does hereby
resolve as follows:
Section 1:
The City Council of the City of Santa MOnica supports the proposed Los
Angeles County Park, Beach and Recreation Act of 1 996 and urges the County Board
of SupervIsors to place the measure on the November 1996 ballot.
Section 2:
The City Council of the City of Santa MOnica supports the Inclusion of the Santa
MOnica Beachfront and Coastal Park Improvement Project In the Act, given ItS strong
regional Significance to all reSidents of the Los Angeles County.

The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this ResolutIon, and thenceforce
and thereafter the same shall be In full force and effect.
