RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA MONICA APPROVING THE APPLICATION FOR GRANT
FUNDS FROM THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES REGIONAL PARK
AND OPEN SPACE DISTRICT PER PARCEL DISCRETIONARY
GRANT PROGRAM FOR JOSLYN PARK IMPROVEMENTS
WHEREAS, the people of the County of Los Angeles on November 3, 1992, enacted Los
Angeles County Proposition A, Safe Neighborhood Parks, Gang Prevention, Tree-PlantIng, Semor
and Youth RecreatIon, Beaches and Wildlife Protection (the PropOSitIOn), which proVIdes funds to
the County of Los Angeles and other publIc agencles m the County for the purposes of acqumng
and/or developmg facilities for pubhc recreational facIhtIes and open space, and
WHEREAS, the Proposition also created the County of Los Angeles Regional Park and Open
Space Distnct (the Dlstnct) to admmister SaId funds, and
WHEREAS, the Distnct has set forth the necessary procedures governmg local agency
apphcations for grant funds under the PropOSitIon, and
WHEREAS, the Distnct's procedures reqUire the City as apphcant to certify, by resolutIOn,
the approval ofthe apphcation before submisslon of said apphcatIOn to the DIstnct, and
WHEREAS, the Joslyn Park Improvements (the Project) IS an important park and recreation
project for the City of Santa Momca, and
WHEREAS, SaId apphcatIOn contams assurances WIth which the City must comply, and
WHEREAS, the CIty will enter mto an Agreement With the Dlstnct for development ofthe
Project,

NOW, THEREFORE THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES
RESOLVE AS FOLLO\VS
SECTION 1 The filing of an apphcatIon wIth the County of Los Angeles Regional Park
and Open Space DIstnct for funds under SectiOn 8 b 1 of Proposition A for the Project IS hereby
approved
SECTION 2 Certifies that SIDd Apphcant understands the assurances and certification m the
apphcatlon form
SECTION 3 The CIty has, or wIll have, suffiCient funds to operate and mamtam the Project
in perpetuity
SECTION 4 The City Manager, is hereby appomted as agent of the City of Santa Momca
to conduct all negotiations, and to execute and submit all documents mcludmg, but not hrruted to,
applIcatIOns, agreements, amendments, payment requests and so forth, which may be necessary for
the completion of the aforementIOned Project
SECTION 5 The City Clerk shall certdy to the adoption OfthlS Resolution and thenceforth
and thereafter it shall be m full force and effect
