May 14, 1996 Santa Momca, California RESOLUTION NO. 9029 (City Council Serres) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA AUTHORIZING THE HOLDING OF A PARADE ON SEPTEMBER 14, 1996 ON A ROUTE OTHER THAN THE OFFICIAL CITY PARADE ROUTE WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 4.08.580 of the Santa MOnica MUnicipal Code, the CIty CouncIl may authonze a parade route as set forth herein, NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS SECTION 1. That on September 14, 1996 at 9.00 a.m. participants In the U.S Constitution Day Parade are authorized to conduct a parade along the following route: Staging at the "Chain Reaction" sculpture north of the CIVIC Auditorium and proceeding south on Main Street crossing the southernmost City limits where the parade WIll dIsband. SECTION 2. Permission to conduct the parade IS granted upon the follOWing condItIons: a That parade umts may not be brought to the staging area, Main Street between Colorado and the "Chain Reaction" sculpture, pnorto 8'00 a.m. on Saturday, September 14, 1996. b. That amplified sound IS not permItted before 8.00 a.m. and all speakers on the revieWing stand must face the ocean 4 c That dura. of the parade be limited to a IXlmum of two hours, Including frequent traffic breaks to allow buses and other traffic to cross parade route. d That any service not provided by the City, such as barricading and comng of streets and posting of directional signs, be assumed and paid by the Organizers. e. That organizers be responsIble for posting "Temporary No Parking" sIgns along the parade route at least 24 hours In advance and removing them Immediately follOWing the parade f. That all litter, horse droppings, and directional signs be cleared from the streets and Sidewalks within four hours of the close of the parade. g. That the parade disband at or beyond the Southern City limits on Main Street and not continue or loop back Into the City. h. That an "Indemnity and Hold Harmless Agreement" be executed and returned to the Events Office by August 3D, 1996. That If General Liability Insurance IS retained It Will name the City of Santa Monica, members of the City CounCil, boards, commiSSions, officers, agents, employees, and volunteers as additional Insured. SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of thiS Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be In full force and effect.
