R-9030 - e RESOLUTION NUMBER 9030 (CCS) (City Council Senes) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA PROCLAIMING JUNE " '996, AS "STAND FOR CHILDREN DAY" IN THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA WHEREAS, on Saturday, June " '996, Amencans from all backgrounds will come together to "Stand for Children" at the Lincoln Memonal In Washington, D.C. and renew our community's commitment to Improving the quality of chIldren's lives, and WHEREAS, this event IS deSigned to JOin together as a local and natIonal community, families, citizens, members of religiOUS congregations, schools, community-based organizations, bUSinesses, political and cultural groups to recognize our children's unmet needs and rededicate ourselves to addreSSing them; and WHEREAS, our canng for our children IS what unites us rather than what dIVides us: a lovmg deSIre to raise healthy, safe, educated and moral children must be our families's, community's, and nation's first pnonty; and WHEREAS, this commItment must begin at the locallevel--where chIldren and families live and work and have the potentIal to thnve, and where all CitIzens, working together, can make a difference In our chIldren's lives. - e NOW, THEREFORE THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1.
