RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA MONICA AUTHORlZING CITY MANAGER TO
APPL Y FOR GRANT FUNDS FROM THE CALIFORNIA ARTS
COUNCIL LOCAL ARTS EDUCA nON PARTNERSHIP
PROGRAM
\VHEREAS, the people of the State of CahfornIa have enacted Senate Bill 1571 which
created the Cahforrna Arts LIcense Plate III order to stImulate fundmg for arts programs
throughout the state, and
WHEREAS, the Cahforrna Arts CouncIl has m1l1ated the Local Arts EducatIOn Partnership
Program to make partlal use of these funds, and
\VHEREAS, the CIty of Santa Momca Cultural AffaIrs Division and the Santa
MorncalMahbu Umfied School Dlstnct have collaborated to develop a process in whIch a plan
can be determmed to address the needs of the children III Santa MODIca; and
\\-'BEREAS, the Cahfornla Arts COunCIl'S procedures reqwre the City as apphcant to
certIfy, by resolutIOn. the approval of the apphcatlon before submIssion of said application to the
Arts CounCIL, and
W'HEREAS. the CalIfornia Arts CouncIl's procedures reqwre the City as applicant to
certIfy, by resolutIOn. support for the development of the Santa MODIca Arts Education Plan
descnbed III SaId apphcatIOn, and
\VHEREAS, the Santa Mornca CIty CounCIl belIeves that a well rounded education in the
arts IS an essentIal element m the educatIOn of the Cny's youth,

NOW THEREFORE THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS
SECTION 1 The filmg of an apphcatIOn WIth the Cahforma Arts Council for funds
under the Local Arts EducatIOn Partnership Program IS hereby approved
SECTION 2 The CIty as applIcant certIfies that Said ApplIcant understands the
assurances and certificatIon m the applIcatIOn form
SECTION 3 The Cay Manager IS hereby appointed as agent of the City of Santa MOllica
to conduct all negotiatIons, and to execute and submit all documents includmg, but not limited
to, apphcatIons. agreements, amendments, payment requests and so forth, wluch may be necessary
for the completIOn of the aforementIOned Project
SECTION 5 The CIty Clerk shall certify to the adoptIOn of the ResolutIOn and
thenceforth and thereafter a shall be m full force and effect
