A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA MONICA REVISING CURRENT
FEES RATE AND SETTING NEW FEES FOR
FOR SERVICES PROVIDED BY VARIOUS
CITY DEPARTMENTS
WHEREAS, lt lS the policy of the City of Santa Monica to
charge for the fully allowable costs of services provlded by the
Clty Staff when such serVlces benefit individual users rather
than members of the community as a whole; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to revise varlOUS ex~stlng fees
charged by the City's Finance Department, Envlronmental and
Public Works Management Department, Community and Cultural
Services Department, and Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, Ordinance Number 1754 (CCS) (the nOrdlnancell),
adopted July 12, 1994, governs the settlng of the amount of user
fees or fees for services provlded to or for the benefit of
particular individuals rather than the general public; and
WHEREAS, the Ordinance allows such user fees or fees for
servlces to be set by ordinance, by a resolutlon adop~ed by the
City Councll (Councll) or by any other means authorized by law;
and
~~EREAS, Municipal Code Sectlon 6.14 090 authorlzes the
Council to set by resolutlon pollce permit fees for categories of

buslnesses and bUs~ness activit~es that require pol~ce permlts;
and
WHEREAS, Ordlnance Number 1851 (CCS) added several new
categories of businesses and buslness activlties to those
requirlng a pollce permlt, and
WHEREAS, the C2ty'S Envlronmental and PubllC Works
Management Department recommends revlsing the fee for acceptlng
Greenwaste at the Clty'S Refuse and Recycl~ng Transfer Station;
and
WHEREAS, Sectlon 2 (I) of Resolutlon No. 8417 (CCS) sets fee
levels for Youth and Teen Program fees charged by the City's
Commun~ty and Cultural Servlce Department; and
WHEREAS, Muulcipal Code Sect~on 8.04.180 authorizes the
Council to set Flre Department permlt fees by resolutloni and
WHEREAS, Californla Health and Safety Code Seetlon 13146.2
authorizes citles to establish a fee for annual inspections of
apartments, condom~niums, and hotels for fire and safety hazards,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Fee rates for new categorles of businesses
requlring po~~ce permits per Ordlnance Number 1851 (CCS) are
establlshed as set forth in Attachment A of thlS resolutlon
SECTION 2. The fee charged to the public for accepting

greenwaste at the Clty'S refuse and recycling transfer statlon lS
hereby revlsed to $35 per ton.
SECTION 3. Section 2 (I) of Resolutlon Number 8417 (CCS) lS
hereby amended revlslng eXlsting fees for youth and teen
recreat~on and actlvlty programs as set forth below'
Youth Sports/Proqrams - A fee of twenty five dollars
($25 00) per person per session for all applicable activitles.
Teen Sports/Proqrams - A fee of thirty dollars ($30.00) per
person per seSSlon for all applicable actlvities.
Day Camp - A fee of nlnety dollars ($90.00) per person per
week.
Youth Summer Camp - A fee of twenty five dollars ($25.00)
per person.
After School Child Care - For after school Chlld care of 4th
and 5th grade chlldren, a fee of one hundred and ninety dollars
($190 00) per child per month.
SECTION 4. Resolution 8770 (CCS) is hereby amended to set
the fee charged by the Flre Department for the annual inspection
of apartments/condominiums and non-highrlse hotels at the rate of
elghty three dollars and Slxty four cents per hour ($83.64)
SECTION 5 The fees set forth In Sectlon 1 of this
resolution shall be effectlve June 28, 1996

SECTION 6 The fees set forth in Section 2, Section 3, and
Section 4 of thlS resolutlon shall be effectlve July 1, 1996.
SECTION 7. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
thlS resolutlon, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
in full force and effect
