A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT AND EXECUTE USED OIL
RECYCLING AND HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE GRANT APPLICATIONS TO
THE CALIFORNIA INTEGRATED WASTE MANAGEMENT BOARD
WHEREAS, the people of the State of California have enacted the California 011
Recycling Enhancement Act which provides funds to cities and counties for
establishing and maintaining local used 011 collection programs that encourage
recycling or appropnate disposal of used 011, and
WHEREAS, the California Integrated Waste Management Board has been delegated
the responSibility for the administration of the program wlthm the state, including settmg
up necessary procedures governing application by cities and counties under the
program, and
WHEREAS. the applicant Will enter Into an agreement With the State of Callforma for
the Implementation of a used 011 collection program,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Santa
Monica
1 Authonzes the submittal of grant applications to the California Integrated Waste
Management Board for all available grants under the CalIfornia Oil Recycling
Enhancement Act and all available HHW grants under the Callforma Integrated Waste
Management Act for the penod of three years from July 1, 1997 through July 1, 2000
2 Authonzes Santa MOnlcaJs partiCipation In a three year cooperative proJect With Los
Angeles County acting In the lead capacity. authonzes 10% of the total Used Oil
Recycling Block Grant (Fifth Cycle) funds for which the City of Santa MOnica IS elIgible,
be appropnated by the California Integrated Waste Management Board to Los Angeles
County to Implement said proJect, and authonzes Los Angeles County to execute all
necessary applications, contracts, payment requests, agreements and amendments
hereto for the purposes of secunng the above mentIoned grant funds and to Implement
and carry out the Cooperative ProJect

3 Authorizes the City Manager, or designee, to execute In the name of the City of
Santa Monica all necessary applications, contracts, payment requests, agreements and
amendments hereto for the purposes of securing grant funds and to Implement and
carry out the purposes specified In the grant application
4 The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution, and thenceforth and
thereafter the same shall be In full force and effect
