RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
AUTHORIZING CITY MANAGER TO APPLY FOR GRANT FUNDS FROM
THE CALIFORNIA ARTS COUNCIL LOCAL ARTS EDUCATION
PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the people of the State of Cahfomla have enacted Senate Bill 1571 which
created the CalifornIa Arts License Plate m order to stnnulate funding for arts programs throughout
the state, and
\VHEREAS, the CalIfornIa Arts CouncIl has mitiated the Local Arts EducatIOn Partnership
Progran1 to make partial use of these funds; and
\\'HEREAS, the City of Santa MOllica Cultural Affarrs DlVlslOn and the Santa
MorucaiMalibu Umfied School District have collaborated to develop a process m wlnch a plan can
be determmed to address the needs of the children m Santa MOnIca; and
\\'HEREAS, the CalifornIa Arts COunCIl'S procedures reqUlre the CIty as apphcant to certifY,
by resolutIon, the approval of the applIcatIOn and support for the development of the Santa Monica
Arts Education Plan before submissIOn of said applicatIOn to the Arts Council; and
WHEREAS, the Santa MOnIca CIty Council belIeves that a well rounded educatIOn m the
arts IS an essential element III the educatIOn of the City'S youth.
NOW THEREFORE THE CITY COlJNCIL OF THE CITY OF SA,"lTA MONICA DOES
RESOL VE AS FOLLOWS
SECTION 1. The fi1mg of an apphcatlOll "'lth the Cahforma Arts Council for funds under
the Local Arts EducatIon Partnership Program IS hereby approved

SECTION 2. The City CouncIl certIfies that said City as applicant understands the
assurances and certification in the application form
SECTION 3 The City Manager IS hereby appomted as agent of the City of Santa MOllica
to conduct all negotiations, and to execute and submit all documents includmg. but not limited to,
applicatIOns, agreements, amendments, payment requests and so forth, wInch may be necessary fOf
the completion of the aforementIOned Project
SECTION 4. The CIty Clerk shall certIfY to the adoptIOn of the Resolution and thenceforth
and thereafter It shall be m full force and effect
