A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCil OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
AUTHORIZING THE HOLDING OF A PARADE ON SEPTEMBER 28, 1996 ON
A ROUTE OTHER THAN THE CITY'S OFFICIAL PARADE ROUTE
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 4 08.580 of the Santa MOnica Municipal Code,
the City Council may authorize a parade route as set forth herem,
NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS
SECTION 1 That on September 28, 1996, from 10 00 a m to 12 00 p.m.,
participants In the Santa Monica Book and MusIc Fest Parade are authorized to
conduct a parade along the following route
Staging will begin at 9 15 a m In the parking lot of the Santa Momca Mam
Library Parade will proceed north on Sixth Avenue, west on Wilshire Blvd, and
south on the Third Street Promenade
SECTION 2 Permission to conduct the parade IS granted upon the following
conditions
a That parade umts may not be brought to the stagmg area, prior to 8.00
a m on Saturday, September 28, 1996
b That duration of the parade be limited to a maximum of 30 mmutes,
Including pOSSible traffic breaks to allow buses and other traffiC to cross parade route

That any s_lce not provided by the City, such4tbarrlcadlng and coning
of streets and posting of directional signs, be assumed and paid by the organizers
d That organizers be responsible for posting "Temporary No Parking" signs
along the parade route at least 24 hours In advance and removing them Immediately
followmg the parade.
e That all litter, directional signs, etc., be cleared from the streets and
sidewalks Within four hours of the close of the parade
f That the parade disband at the Third Street Promenade
g That businesses on the parade route be notified In advance of temporary
street closure
SECTION 3 The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution, and
thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be In full force and effect.
