A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA IN
SUPPORT OF THE TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT ALLOCATION OF
PROPOSITION C DISCRETIONARY FUNDS FOR COUNTYWIDE BUS SYSTEM
IMPROVEMENT PLAN
WHEREAS, the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation
Authority approved the Bus System Improvement Plan, including a
one-time appropriation of $10.4 million in Proposition C
Discretionary Funds for Fiscal Year 1997 using the formula
allocation process for all operators that receive regional funds,
for an annual Countywide program to improve service on
overcrowded lines which serve transit dependent riders; and
WHEREAS, the Santa Monica Municipal Bus Lines is an eligible
operator and desires to receive the funds to operate additional
service on overcrowded lines that serve transit dependent riders.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
The City of Santa Monica supports the City's
Transportation Department allocation of Proposition C
Discretionary Funds for the countywide Bus system Improvement
Plan.
SECTION 2.
The City of Santa Monica hereby acknowledges
that these funds are to be allocated to services that will
relieve overcrowding for the most transit dependent customers.
SECTION 3. The City of santa Monica affirms that the

Transportation Department staff shall develop a methodology for
the allocation of these funds so that service quality for transit
dependent riders improves.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
the Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
in full force and effect.
