A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA MONICA HONORING THE FIRST
CHRISTIAN CHURCH OF SANTA MONICA ON THE
OCCASION OF ITS DIAMOND JUBILEE.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, the First Christian Church of Santa Monica,
on June 2, 1974, will observe its Seventy-Fifth Anniversary as a
religious congregation ministering to people in Santa Monica;
and,
WHEREAS, the congregation has from its beginning served
as a leader in the formation and growth of the Santa Monica
Bay Council of Churches, and the Westside Ecumenical Conference;
and,
WHEREAS, the pioneering moral sponsorship by the First
Christian Church in creating the Santa Monica Christian Towers
is a permanent, visible, manifestation of its deep concern
and care for people of all faiths, in providing low-cost
apartments for the elderly: and,
WHEREAS, the lay and ministerial leadership of the
congregation have given unselfishly of their time and talent
to the welfare and improvement of our city.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the First Christian Church, on the
occasion of its Diamond Jubilee, be highly commended for its
innumerable contributions to Santa Monica across the past
seventy-five years, and be extended the best wishes of the City,
and this Council, for many years of continuing witness to its

faith and dedicated service to the people of our community.
SECTION 2. That the City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this resolution and thenceforth and thereafter the
same shall be in full force and effect.
ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 28th day of May, 1974.
