A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA MONICA APPROVING AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN
THE CITY AND THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES TO
TRANSFER THE ADMINISTRATION AND CONTROL OF
LIFESAVING FACILITIES ON THE BEACH PROPERTY
AND ALONG THE tvATERFRONT OF THE CITY TO
THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES
WHEREAS, the State of Californla is the owner of beach
property along the waterfront of the City; and
WHEREAS, the City has for many years, under contract wlth
the State,provlded lifesaving services for said beach and publlC
faCllltles thereon; and
WHEREAS, the County of Los Angeles has provided life-
savlng services for beach and publlC facilities thereon throughout
most of the County; and
WHEREAS, in the past County and City have entered lnto
contracts whereby the City has performed the above functlons and
has been relmbursed by the County for a portion of the City's
expenses; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City and County that the
County should take over such serVlces on a year-round baS1S startlng
July 1, 1974;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. That all necessary lifesaving serVlces
currently under the administration of the City of Santa Monica shall
be transferred to the administration and control of the County of
Los Angeles as of June 30, 1974.

SECTION 2. That a certa~n agreement by and between the
C~ty of Santa ~IDnica, a municipal corporation, and the County of
Los Angeles, a body corporate and politic, which sets forth the
terms and conditions of the lifesavlng services provided by the
County of Los Angeles is hereby approved.
SECTION 3. That the City Manager of the City of Santa
Monica be, and hereby is, authorized and instructed to execute
said agreement.
SECTION 4. That the city Clerk shall certify to the
adopt~on of this resolut~on and thenceforth and thereafter the
same shall be in full force and effect.
