A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA APPROVING
AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
EXECUTE JOINT POWERS AGREEMENTS BETWEEN
S&~TA MONICA, THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA
AND THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES FOR THE
DEMOLITION OF PACIFIC OCEAN PARK.
WHEREAS, there ~s presently existlng ~n both the
Clty of Los Angeles and the Clty of Santa Monlca partially
destroyed amusement plers, which are adJacent to each other,
and WhlCh are commonly known as L1Ck Pler and Paclflc Ocean
Park Pleri and
WHEREAS, there are portlons of sa~d plers, adJacent
to the Clty owned plers and WhlCh formed a part of what was
commonly known as L1Ck Pier and Paciflc Ocean Park Pier, WhlCh
are now owned by the State of Cal1forniai and
WHEREAS, the publlc lnterest, convenience and necesslty
of the Cltles of Los Angeles and Santa Monlca, and the State of
Cal~fornla, require that sald piers be demollshed, the area
cleared, and the tldelands upon Wh1Ch sald plers have been
constructed be made avallable for other useSi and
WHEREAS, the Clty of Los Angeles and the Clty of Santa
Monlca deslre to cooperate ln the demolltlon of said piers and
the clearance of sald tldelands, and to share the costs thereof
III order to reduce the total cost of demolitlon and clearance;
and
WHEREAS, on August 8, 1974, the Board of Recreatlon
and Parks Commlssioners of the Clty of Los Angeles executed a
document entltled "Jolnt Powers Agreement Between the City of
Los Angeles, Department of Recreation and Parks and Clty of
