RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA MONICA AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF AN APPLI-
CATION WITH THE DEPAR TMENT OF TRANSPORTATIONt
UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, FOR A GRANT UNDER THE
URBAN MASS TRANSPORTATION ACT OF 1964. AS AMENDED
WHEREAS, the Secretary of Transportation is authorLZed to make grants
for mass transportation projects;
WHEREAS, the contract for fmancial assistance willlmpose certain obh-
gatlons upon the applicant, including the provision by it of the local share
of project costs;
WHEREAS, it is required by the U. S. Department of Transportation in
accord with the provisions of Title VI of the GlVil Rights Act of 1964. that
in connection with the filing of an application for assistance under the Urban
Mass Transportatton Act of 1964, as Amended, the apphcant give an assur-
ance that it Will comply with Title VI of the Civll Rights Act of 1964 and the
U. S. Department of Transportation requirements thereunder; and
WHEREAS, it lS the goal of the Applicant that minonty business enterprise
be utilized to -the fullest extent possible in connection with this project, and
that defmltive procedures shall be estabhshed and administered to ensure that
minority businesses shall have the maximum feasible opportunity to compete
for contracts when procuring constructlOn contracts, supphes, equlpment
contracts, or consultant and other services:
SECTION 3.
NOW, TIU:REFORE, BE IT RESOLVED -by: the Clty Council of the City of
Santa M~nrca as follows:
SECTION 1. That the City m.anager 1S authorized to execute and file
an applicahon on behalf of the Santa Monlca Municlpal
Bus Lmes with the U. S. Departm.ent of Transportatlon,
to aid in the financing of twenty-seven new air-condltioned
diesel translt buses, thlt'ty new fare boxes, one spa.re
hydraulic transmission and one spare diesel engine.
SECTION Z. That the City Manager is authorized to execute and file
wi th such application an assurance or any other document
required by the U. S. Department of Transportahon
effectuating the purposes of Title VI of the Clvil Rights Act
of 1964.
That James D. Wtlliams, CitiManager, is authorized to
furnish such additional mformation as the U. S. Department
of TransportatLOn may requlre in connection wlth the apph-
cation or the project.
That the City Manager is authorized to set forth and execute
affirmatlve minority business policies in connection with the
pr oject' s procurement needs.
