A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL or
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA SUPPORTING
THE JUVENILE JUSTICE AND DELINQUENCY
PREVENTION ACT OF 1974 AND URGING THE
SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF
GOVERNMENTS TO MAKE REQUESTS FOR LOCAL
FUNDING THEREUNDER.
WHEREAS, the Congress of the Un1ted States has
passed, and the Pres~dent of the United States has s~gned
the Juven11e Just1ce Delinquency Prevent10n Act of 1974; and,
WHEREAS, sa1d Act prov1des for technical assistance
to local public agencies ~n develop1ng and implementing
juven~le del~nquency programs; and,
WHEREAS, sa1d Act author1zes a transfer of federal
funds, through grants or contracts with local public agencies,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the City of Santa Mon1ca supports
the purposes and terms of the Juven11e Just1ce and Delinquency
Prevent10n Act of 1974.
SECTION 2. That the Southern Cal~forn~a Assoc1at1on
of Governments be and is hereby requested by the City of
Santa Monica to endorse the purpose and terms of the Juvenile
Justice and Delinquency Preventlon Act of 1974 at ~ts regular
meeting of January 13, 1975.
SECTION 3. That the Southern Californ~a Assoc~atlon
of Governments be and is hereby urged to petition the
Pres1dent of the Un1ted States to make funds ava11able under
the Juvenlle Just1ce and Del1nquency Preventlon Act of 1974
for use by local governmental agencies, includ1ng the C~ty

SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the
adoptlon of this resolution and thenceforth and thereafter
the same shall be 1n full force and effect.
