RESOLUTION NO. 459"5 (GGS)
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA MONICA AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH THE STA TE OF
CALIFORNIA FOR FEDERAL AID URBAN PROGRAM FUNDS.
WHF:REAS, the Congress of the United States has in the Federal-Aid
Highway Act of 1970 declared it to be in the national interest for Federal
Funds to.be expended for highway and fringe parking projects on the Federal_
Air Urban System within urbaDized areas; and
WHEREAS, the Legislature of the State of California has enacted
Chapter 201 of the Statutes of 1971, by which the federal funds authorized
may be made available for use on county highways, city streets, state high-
ways and fringe parking in urbanized areas in accordance with the intent of
the federal act; and
WHEREAS, there exists a compelling need for improvement~ of streets
and highways and fringe parking facilities within the boundaries of LOCAL
AGENCY; and
WHEREAS. LOCAL AGENCY and STATE therefore desire to make use
of said LOCAL AGENCY; and
of such FAU funds as may be zr.ade available within the jurisdictional boundaries
LOCAL AGENCY and STATE are required to enter into an agreement relative
WHEREAS, before Federal-aid will be made available for FAU prograxn,
to prosecution of the said project and maintenance of the completed faCility.
NOW, THEREFORE. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute said
agreement for and on ben...lf of the City.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolu_
tion and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in fulJ force and effect.
