A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA MONICA AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF PETROLEUM
PRODUCTS ON THE OPEN MARKET AND WAIVING THE CALL
FOR BIDS
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Monica has need of Petroleum
Products for the duration of federally-mandated allocation controls; and
WHEREAS, the federal government's mandatory allocation
program controls and limits petroleum products distribution and
pricing; and
WHEREAS, it has heretofore been determined by both formal
bidding procedures and market research that, to date, petroleum
vendors have been unresponsive to the city's needs; and
WHEREAS, to further advertise for bids for said petroleum
products would be to no avail and would cause unnecessary expense
and delay;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the City of Santa Monica has need of
fuel and other petroleum products.
SECTION 2. That to further advertise for bids for said
fuel and petroleum products would be to no avail and would cause
unnecessary expense and delay.
SECTION 3. The City Manager is authorized to purchase
on the open market, without further advertising for bids, said fuel
and petroleum products.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this resolution and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall
be in full force and effect.
ADOPTED and APPROVED this 24th day of June
1975.
