A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA MONICA AUTHORIZING NEGOTLATION OF
BEACH UMBRELLA AND EQUIPMENT RENTAL CONCESSION
AGREEMENTS FOR LOCATIONS AT 1550 OCEAN FRONT
2600 PROMENADE, 2400 PROMENADE, 1100 AND 1300
PROMENADE AND 930 PACIFIC COAST HIGHWAY ON THE
OPEN MARKET, AND WAIVING CALL FOR FORMAL BIDS
WHEREAS, the City has need of beach umbrella and
equipment rental service for users of Santa Monica beaches
at 1550 Ocean Front, 2600 Promenade, 2~OO Promenade, 1100 and 1300
Promenade and 930 Pacific Coast Highway; and
WHEREAS, it has heretofore been determined by formal
bidding procedures that, to date, beach umbrella and equipment
rental concessionaires have been unresponsive to the city's needs;
and
WHEREAS, to further advertise for bids for said beach
umbrella and equipment rental services would be to no avail and
would cause unnecessary expense and delay;
NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the City of Santa Monica has need of
beach umbrella and equipment rental service for users of Santa
beaches at 1550 Ocean Front, 2600 Promenade, 2400 promenade,
1100 and 1300 Promenade, and 930 Pacific Coast Highway.
SECTION 2. That to further advertise for bids for
said beach umbrella and equipment rental service would be to
no avail and would cause unnecessary expense and delay.
SECTION 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized to
negotiate concession agreements for beach umbrella and equipment
rental service at 1550 Ocean Front,2600 Promenade, 2400 Promenade
1100 and 1300 Promenade and 930 Pacific Coast Highway on the
open market without further advertising for bids.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this resolution and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall
be in full force and effect.
