WHEREAS, the Chamber of Commerce can prov~de promot~onal serv~ces on behalf of the C~ty; and, WHEREAS, by ut11izing such services the City can real~ze a signif1cant savings 1n costsi and WHEREAS, It is the mutual desire of the C~ty and the Chamber of Commerce to enter ~nto a contract for the furn~sh1ng of such services. NOI'], THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That the agreement attached hereto as "Exhlbit A" of th1s resolutlon be and 15 hereby approved. SECTION 2. That the City Manager be and lS hereby authorized to execute sald agreement on behalf of the City of Santa Monica. SECTION 3. The Clty Clerk shall certify to the adopt~on of this resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be 1n full force and effect. BACKGROUND: The attached contract provides for the furnishlng of certa~n serv~ces by the ChaMber of Commerce to the City. These services ~nclude the providing of general information to the PQblic concerning Santa Monica, promotional community publiclty, tourist and convent~on activities, annual parade and hollday events and comp~ling and furnishing stat~stical informat~on. In return, the C~ty would provide funds in the sum of $90,000.00 to the Chamber of Commerce. This contract is essentlally the same as that entered into the preced~ng f~scal year. Addltionally, the contract provides for monthly as well as annual audlt procedures. ALTERNATIVE SOLUTIONS: Not applicable. RECOM!<lENDATION: The attached contract, if adopted by the attached resolution, will accomplish the above stated purposes. This office makes no recommendation with regard to the policy involved.
