A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA ESTABLISHING
SUBSCRIPTION CHARGES FOR CITY COUNCIL
k~D COr1MISSION AGENDAS AND MINUTES.
WHEREAS, it has been found that there is public
interest in making available mailings of copies of Councll Agendas
and Mlnutes; and
WHEREAS, it has been found that there 1S further publlc
1nterest In mal11ngs of Agendas and Minutes of the var~ous Boards
and Commissions of the City; and
tVHEREAS, such mail1ngs \~uld result in a direct cost
to the City wh1ch can be partially defrayed by the lmposltion of
certaln charges.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY CO~JCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
Any person desiring to receive coples
of C1ty Councll Agendas and/or C1ty Counc1l Minutes may do so by
request1ng that hlS or her name be placed upon a malling llst
and paY1ng the appropriate charge, as provided for herein.
SECTION 2.
Any person desiring to recelve cop1es
of Board, Commission or Committee Agendas and/or Minutes may do
so by requestlng that hlS or her name be placed upon a malling
list and paying the approprlate charge, as proV1ded for herein.
SECTION 3.
The charges for th1s serVlce shall be
as follows:
1. Counc1l Agendas and Mlnutes~
$36.00 per year.
2.
Council Agendas
Sl2.00 per year.

3. Council Mlnutes - $24.00 per year.
4. For the Redevelopment Agency, the Parklng
Authority, or each Board, Commission and
Committee:
Agendas and Mlnutes - $6.00 per year
Agendas only -
$2.00 per year
thnutes only -
$4.00 per year
5. For cop1es of single pages of the above documents,
the charge w~ll be fifteen ($.15) Cents per page.
SECTION 4.
Persons who are members of an offlc1al
public agency or CO~lSS1on or menbers of a Clty Board, CO~,isslon
or Co~ittee shall be exe~pt from the charges prov1ded for hereln.
Accredlted news media representatives shall also be exempt.
SECTION 5.
The C1ty Clerk shall certify to the
adoptlon of this resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the
same shall be in full force and effect.

SUBJECT: Subscription Charges for Council Agendas and/or Minutes.
At one of the budget study sessions it vas pointed out that other cities
endeavor to reduce the cost of sending out the above and it was indicated that
a study ~ould be made and a recommendation submitted for your consideration.
Accordingly the report was submitted as Item 5G at the July 8 meeting. This
addendum to that report covers the proposed modus operandi if the resolution
is adopted.
Those persons wishing to continue receiving the agendas and or minutes
and who pay the subscription fee will continue to receive them as in the past.
Those persons not wishing to pay the fee can pick up a copy of each at this
office free of charRe, and a copy of the agenda the night of any Council
meeting outside the Council Chamber without charge (the same as is now done).
The 15e per page charge will be made only when there are no copies of
either available at this office and a special run is necessary to fill a
request. This will apply mainly to back issues of minutes or agendas (because.
an ample supply of each is run off originally).
This charge is currently made for copies of requested public documents on
f11e in this office.
A survey of other cities reveals the follOwing:
Beverly Hills $12.00 per year (agendas only) no minutes sent out but copies
are available at the City Clerk's office.
Culver City -- Agendas or minutes $3.00 per month. No charge made if handed
out at the Clerkts office. Will not mail out individual requests
for either, unless by subscription.
Ing1ewood -- Only 22 persons or firms On mailing list. If picked up at the
Clerk's office there is a 15~ per page charge.

I might point out that the mention of bimonthly meetings in the report dated
May 12 should have been biweekly.
