RESOLUTION NO. 4684 (CCS)

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA APPROVING
AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT FOR CONTRACT
SERVICES WITH WESTSIDE VOLUNTEER BUREAU.
WHEREAS, Wests~de Volunteer Bureau ~s engaged ~n
recru~t~ng, interview1ng and referring some one thousand
volunteers who render many hours of volunteer serV1ce each
year to var~ous community agencies; and,
WHEREAS, such public and private agenc1es to which
referrals are made perform pub11c serV1ce in the areas of health,
welfare, recreat10n, educat10n and culture wh1ch are benef~cial
to the citizens of the C1ty of Santa Monica; and,
WHEREAS, such public and pr~vate agencies are thereby
enabled to meet a greater number of community needs at a reduced
cost; and,
WHEREAS, the Santa Monica Wests1de Volunteer Bureau
1S continually attempt1ng to develop new ways to 1dent~fy and
meet commun1ty needs; and,
WHEREAS, the Santa Mon1ca Wests~de Volunteer Bureau
is performing a v1tal serV1ce 1n coord1nating a program where1n
the needs for volunteer help of pub11c and private agenc1es can
be satisfied and the citizens of Santa Monica desiring to do so
can be g1ven the opportunity to perform a pub11c serv~ce; and,
WHEREAS, the City cannot prov1de these services w1thout
substantial expend1tures.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1.
That the contract between the C~ty of
Santa Mon~ca and the Westside Volunteer Bureau for the provld~ng
of serv~ces by said Wests~de Volunteer Bureau and the funding of
such services by the City be and is hereby approved and the City
Manager is authorized to execute said contract on behalf of the
Clty of Santa Monica.
SECTION 2.
The C~ty Clerk shall certify to the
adopt~on of this resolut~on, and thenceforth and thereafter the
same shall be ~n full force and effect.
