A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA AUTHORIZING
EX~1INATION OF SALES fu~D USE TAX
RECORDS.
WHEREAS, pursuant to Ordinance 939 (CCS),the City of
Santa Monica entered ~nto a contract w~th the State Board of
Equalizat~on to perform all functions ~ncident to ~he adm~nl-
stratlon and collectlons of local sales and use taxes; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa
Monica deens ~t des1rable and necessary from time to time for
a representative of the C1ty to qudit for and in 1tS behalf
the sales and use tax transactlons and collect~ons that are made
for the Clty by the State Board of Equalization; and,
WHEREAS, Sectlon 7056 of the Revenue and Taxatlon
Code of the State of California states in part that the Board
shall permit any duly authorized off~cer, or employee of such
Clty, to examine all of the sales and use tax records of the
City:
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
That the City l1anager and/or the Finance
Director-City Controller, or any designated assistant or employee
of such officer, lS hereby appointed to represent the City of
Santa MOTI1Ca with full authority to investigate and reVlew sales
and use tax transactions and collections for the City, contained
in the records of the State Board of Equallzation.
SECTION 2.
That as provided ~n Section 7056 of the
Revenue and Taxation Code, the information so gained by the

Clty Manager and/or the Finance Director-City Controller, or any
deslgnated asslstant or employee of such offlcer shall be used
only for purposes related to the collection of local sales and
use taxes by the Board pursuant to the contract.
SECTION 3.
Resolutlon No. 4649 (CCS) 1S hereby
repealed 1n lts entirety.
SECTION 4.
The C1ty Clerk shall certlfy to the
adopt1on of thlS resolutlon, and thenceforth and thereafter
the same shall be in full force and effect.
