RESOLUTION NO. 4729(CCS)

A RESOLUTION APPROVING SOLID
WASTE MANAGEMENT PLAN FOR
LOS ANGELES COUNTY.
WHEREAS, the Nejedly-Z 'berg-Dills Solid Waste Management and
Resource Recovery Act of 1972 (hereafter referred to as the Act) requires each
county in cooperatlOn with affected local Jur1sdlctions, to prepare a
comprehensive, coordinated solid waste management plan; and
WHEREAS, said Act also requires that such plan shall be consistent
with state pohcy and any appropriate regional or sub-regional solid waste
management plan; and
WHEREAS, said Act also requires that the county solid waste
management plan shall be subject to the approval by a majority of the c1ties
within the county wluch contain a majority of the populatlOn of the incorporated
area of the county; and
WHEREAS, the County of Los Angeles has prepared a plan for
sohd waste management in conformance with the Act and on January 25, 1976
submitted said plan to th1s Council for approval;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
SECTION 1.
That the City Council of the City of Santa Monica
has reviewed said plan, approves the plan, and concurs in the followlllg:
(a) the objectives set forth in the plan, (b) the method and organization for
implementation of the programs contained in the plan, (c) the procedures for
financing the recommended sohd waste management program, and (d) the
role identified in the plan for the City in Implementing thlS cooperative
effort for management of solid waste in an economical and environmentally
acceptable manner.
SECTION 2.
The City Clerk shall certify to the adoptlOO of
th1s resolutwn, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be 1n full
