A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA MONICA WAIVING FORMAL BID PROCEDURE
AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO AWARD A
CONTRACT FOR THE 1976 FOURTH OF JULY FIREWORKS
DISPLAY
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council to
provide a fireworks display on Santa Monica pier marking the
1976 Fourth of July celebration; and
WHEREAS, the City has canvassed all known suppliers
of this service and has received proposals considered equivalent
to those that might be received through formal bid procedure;
and
WHEREAS, to call for formal bids would entail unnecessary
expense and delay;
NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNC IL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the City of Santa Monica desires to
provide a 1976 Fourth of July fireworks display for its residents.
SECTION 2. That to formally advertise for bids to
provide this display would be to no avail and would cause un-
necessary expense and delay.
SECTION 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized to
award a contract for this service without formal advertising
for bids.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this resolution and thenceforth and thereafter the
same shall be in full force and effect.
ADOPTED and APPROVED this 13th day of April
1976.
