A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA MONICA WA IVING BID PROCEDURE AND AUTHOR-
IZING THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE DIRECTLY
FOR THE PURCHASE OF AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM
REPAIR
.
WHEREAS, the air conditioning system serving the Data Processing
Department is currently inoperative; and
WHEREAS, air conditioning is required to assure continuous and
accurate computer operations, an essential element of City function;
and
WHEREAS, to advertise for bids for parts, alterations and ad-
justments necessary to restore this air conditioning system to service
would entail a time delay beyond acceptable limits without a corres-
ponding assurance of savings in cost.
WHEREAS, funds necessary to accomplish this system repair are
available for transfer to account 01-8243-920, City Hall Building
Structures and Improvements, from account 01-8274-101, Reserve for
Estimated Pay Raise.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNC IL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager is authorized to purchase the
required parts, alterations and adjustments for the Data Processing
air conditioning system on the open market without calling for formal
bids.
SECTION 2. The City Council finds that the purchase of the
required material and services is of necessity to the City and that
to solicit bids would provide no aSsurance of savings and would cause
unacceptable delay and additional expense.
SECTION 3. The City Council approves the transfer of funds
necessary to accomplish this repair to account 01-8243.920 from ac-
count 01-8274-101.

SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full
force and effect.
