RESOLUTION NO. 4780(CCS)
(CITY COUNCIL SERIES)
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA MONICA WAIVING FORMAL BID PROCEDURE AND
AUTHORIZING ISSUANCE OF A PURCHASE ORDER FOR
COMPUTER MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR SERVICE.
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Monica has need of main-
tenance and repair service for the Hewlett-Packard HP-3000
computer system; and
WHEREAS, the Hewlett-Packard Company is the only
known qualified source for this service; and
WHEREAS, the continuation of single-source responsibility
with the manufacturer is to the City's advantage in this instance;
and
WHEREAS, to advertise formally for bids would entail
delay and expense with no assurance of developing any other
qualified bidder(s)
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the City Councils finds that the
requirement exists for computer maintenance and repair service.
SECTION 2. That the Hewlett-Packard Company is the
only known source qualified to accomplish this required maintenance
and repair service.
SECTION 3. That it is to the City's advantage to
continue maintenance responsibility with the computer manufacturer.
SECTION 4. That to formally advertise for bids for
this service would entail delay and expense with no offsetting
advantage.
SECTION 5. That formal bid procedure is waived and
that the City Manager is authorized to issue a purchase order
to Hewlett-Packard Company for HP3000 computer maintenance and
repair.
SECTION 6. The City Clerk shall certify to the adop-
tion of this resolution and thenceforth and thereafter the same
shall be in full force and effect.
