A RESOLU'l'ION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
SUPPORTING THE ENDEAVOR OF
WESTMINSTER TO~iERS TO PROVIDE
HOUSING FOR SENIOR CITIZENS IN
SANTA MONICA.
~'JHEREAS~I senior citi~ens in Santa Monica. and throughout
Southern California are being driven from their homes by high
property assessments and high tax rates,>and from their apartments

WHEREAS, ~e Westminster Towers ~n Santa Monica currently
houses Three H~dred and Five (305) ~r citlzens with One
Thousand Three Hundred seventy Two (l,37k) OR a 'waiting l~st where

the average wait is eight (8) years; and..>:"
vnIEREAS, the Westm~nster Towers proposes to build
sim~lar housing on a sight just south of St~ John's Hospital to
meet the pressing need tor low cost senior citizens hous~ng.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONCIA DOES RESOLVE bSFOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the Santa Monica City Council supports
and e~dorses the efforts of Westminster ~owers to provide housing
for senior citizens.
SECTION 2. That staff is directed to communicate said
support of the present endeavors by Westminster Towers to whomever
~t may concern in the U~S. Department of Housing and Urban
Development, to Secretary Carla Hills, to President Ford, to
Senators C~anston and ,Tunney, and to Con9ressman Bell.

approved your C1ty Council's Confl1ct of Interest Code without
rev~sion. The enclosed Code 15 the officially approved document,
as indlcated by the "Certification of Fair Politlcal Practlces
Commission Approval" stamp. The Code shall become effective
December 16, 1976, 30 days from the date of FPPC approval.
