RESOLUTION NO. 4801(CCS)

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA MONICA DECLARING ITS INTEN-
TION TO ORDER THE VACATION OF THAT CERTAIN
ALLEY KNOWN AS PIeD PLACE NORTH BETWEEN
APPIAN WAY AND OCEAN AVENUE IN THE CITY OF
SANTA MONICA, CALIFORNIA.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the City Council of the City of
Santa Monica hereby declares its intention to order the vacation
of all of that portion of Pico Place North between Appian Way
and Ocean Avenue, as shown on the map of Tract 1111, in the City
of Santa Monica, County of Los Angeles, State of California,
recorded in Map Book 17, Pages 154-155 of official records in
the office of the Recorder of said County.
For further particulars as to the proposed vacation
and abandonment of the hereLnbefore mentioned areas, reference
is made respectively to Map No. 4087, dated September 16, 1976,
now on file in the office of the City Clerk in the City Hall,
Santa Monica, California.
SECTION 2. The City Council of the City of Santa
Monica, in vacating said portion of said Pico Place North, hereby
intends to make said vacation conditional on the relocation of
a water main, a gas line, abandoning alley approaches, and con-
structing a sanitary sewer manhole.
In addition to the above conditions, the City Council
intends to reserve and except from said vacation an easement of
full width over that portion southwesterly of the northwesterly
prolongation of the southwesterly line of Lot 5 of said Tract
No. 1111, for the purpose of constructing, maintaining, operating,
replacing> removing and renewing all sanitary sewers, and other
required pUblic utility facilities.

SECTION 3. The City Council of the City of Santa
Monica~ in vacating the above mentioned portion of Pica Place
North between Appian Way and Ocean Avenue~ elects to proceed
under and in accordance with the provisions of the "Street
Vacation Act of 1941fl~ being Division 9, Part 3~ of the Streets
and Highways Code of the State of California.
SECTION 4. That the hour of 7:30 o'clock p.m. of the
26th day of October, 1976, in the Council Chamber in the City
Hall, Santa Monica~ California~ be and the same hereby is fixed
as the time and place when and where all persons interested in
or objecting to the proposed vacation and abandonment may appear
before the City Council and offer evidence in relation thereto.
SECTION 5. That the Street Superintendent of the
City of Santa Monica hereby is directed to cause Notices of
Street Vacation to be posted as required by the Street Vacation
Act of 1941, being Division 9~ Part 3 of the Streets and Highways
Code, and the City Council hereby elects to proceed under the
provisions of said act.
SECTION 6. The City Clerk shall certify to the adop-
tion of this Resolution of Intention and Shall cause the same
to be published twice in the Evening Outlook, a newspaper
published and circulated in the City of Santa Monica, the first
of said publications shall be not less than fifteen (15) days
prior to October 26, 1976.
SECTION 7. That the City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of thiS resolution and thenceforth and thereafter the
same shall be in full force and effect.
