RESOLUTION NO. 4809 (CCS)

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA MONICA WAIVING FORMAL BID PROCEDURE
AND AUTHORIZING DIRECT NEGOTIATION FOR PUR-
CHASE OF REBUILT COIN SORTERS
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Monica has need of two (2)
coin sorters; and
WHEREAS, it has been ascertained that rebuilt coin
sorters will fulfill these needs at the lowest possible cost;
and
WHEREAS, it has been established through informal bid
procedure that only one (1) vendor is capable of supplying re-
built sorters with the warranties and safety updates desired;
and
WHEREAS, to advertise formally for bids would result
in expense and delay with no assurance of locating additional
bidders.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNC IL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the City Council finds that the xequire-
ment exists for two (2) coin sorters.
SECTION 2. That rebuilt coin sorters will fulfill the
requirement at the lowest possible cost to the City.
SECTION 3. That preliminary informal bid procedure has
satisfied the intent of the city charter and municipal code pro-
visions for competitive bidding.
SECTION 4. That to advertise formally for bids would
entail unnecessary expense and delay.
SECTION 5. That formal bid procedure is hereby waived
for purchase of two (2) rebuilt coin sorters.

SECTION 6. The City Manager is hereby authorized to
negotiate directly for the two (2) rebuilt coin sorters.
SECTION 7. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall
be in full force and effect.
ADOPTED and APPROVED this 9th day of November
1976.
