THE CITY OF SANTA BONICA HONORn~G

FOR THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS, OVER A
PERIOD OF FIFTY YEARS, TO THE GROWTH
AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA AND THE SURROUNDING CO~~UNrTY.
,iHEREAS, HARRY MARKOWITZ and JACK MARKOWITZ are
closing their clothing store, "!-iARBRO'S," which was opened
at its present location ~n 1940; and,
WHEREAS, said closing will climax fifty-four (54)

years of business at three locations in Venice and the City
of Santa Monica; and,
WHEREAS, HARRY MARKOWITZ has been involved in
numerous civic and charitable organizations, including, the
American Legion, the B'nai B'rith, the Chamber of Commerce,
the Community Chest, the Jewish Family Service, the Legal
Aid Society, the Salvation Army, the Santa Monica College
Foundation, and Temple Beth Shalom in Santa Monica:-and
WHEREAS, JACK MARKOWITZ has been act~ve in numerous
c~vic and char~table organizations, including, the B'nai B'rith,
the Brentwood Optimist Club, and Temple Beth Shalom ~n Santa
Monica,
NOW, THEREFORE, the C~ty Counc~l of the City of
Santa Monica does resolve as follows:
SECTION 1.
That HARRY l'1ARKOlHTZ and JACK t<1ARKOWITZ
be and are hereby honored for their contributlon, over a period
of flfty (50) years, to the growth and development of the
City of Santa Monica and the surrounding community.

The City Clerk shall certify to
the adopt~on of the resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter
the same shall be ~n full force and effect.
