A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA ESTABLISHING
MAXIMUM RATES FOR TAXI CAB OPERATIONS
WHEREAS, Section 6430 of the Santa Monica Munic~pal
Code prov~des that the C~ty Council may establish maximum rates
to be charged, collected, demanded, rece~ved or arranged for
taxicab serv~ce or the serv~ce of any automobile for h~re in
the City used for the conveyance of passengers,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
The max~mum rates or fares to be
charged the public by metered tax~cabs operat~ng over any
street shall be and the same hereby are fixed as follows:
1. One ($1.00) Dollar for the first
one-fifth (1/5) m~le or fract~on thereof (flag drop) and
Twenty ($.20) Cents for each succeeding one-fifth (liS) m~le .. ,\
or fract~on thereof.
2. Twenty ($.20) Cents for each one and two-
thirds (1 & 2/3) minutes of waiting time when such waiting
t~me is at the request of the passenger hiring the cab.
3. Twenty ($.20) Cents for each one and
two-thirds (I & 2/3) m~nutes of traffic delay time.
It is the purpose and-intent of the City
Counc~l of the C~ty of Santa Mon~ca that the f~rst Twenty
($.20) Cents of the fare of each trip undertaken by a metered
tax~cab is authorized solely for the express purpose of off-
setting increased fuel and insurance costs, and for no other
purpose and shall not be used in any manner by any taxicab
company in calculating or computing its dr~ver's compensat~on.

The maximum of rates or fares to be charged
the pub11c for automobiles for hire operating over any street
shall be and the same hereby are fixed as follows:
The max1mum hourly rate of fare shall be Twelve
Dollars and Fifty Cents ($12.50) per hour allowing maximum
mileage of twelve (12) miles.
SECTION 2.
The City Clerk shall certify to the
adopt1on of th1s resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter
th~ same shall become effective upon ~he taking of effect of
Ordinance No.
1062 (City Council S~ries).
