A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA CLOSING
THIRD STREET BETWEEN WASHINGTON
AVENUE AND WILSH~RE BOULEVARD
BETWEEN 11:00 A.M. AND 3:00 P.M.
ON SUNDAY, AUGUST 21, 1977.
WHEREAS, it ~s proposed that the Santa Mon~ca
Jaycees sponsor a bed race to benefit the Santa Mon~ca
Girl's Club. The proceeds from the entry fees and match
race challenges as well as refreshment income will all
go to the .Club.
WHEREAS, such proceeds from the race are in the
publ~c interest, and for the benefit of the City of Santa
Monlca.
WHEREAS, the closing of ThJ..rdStreet to vehlcular
traffic between Wash~ngton Avenue and wilshire Boulevard ~s
necessary for the safety and protection of persons
part~c~pating In and attending sald race.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
That the closing of Thlrd Street
between Washington Avenue and W~lshire Boulevard on August 21,
1977, between the hours of 11:00 o'clock a.m. and 1:00 o'clock
p.m. ~s necessary for the safety and protection of persons
part~cipating in and attending the bed race to be held thereat.
SECTION 2.
That Third Street, in the City of
Santa Monlca, shall be barr~caded and closed to veh~cular
traffic between the hours of 11:00 o'clock a.m. and 1:00
o'clock p.m. on August 21, 1977.
