A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA CLOSING
THIRD STREET BETWEEN WASHINGTON
AVENUE AND WILSH~RE BOULEVARD
BETWEEN 11:00 A.M. AND 3:00 P.M.
ON SUNDAY, AUGUST 21, 1977.
WHEREAS, it is proposed that the Santa Monica
Jaycees sponsor a bed race to benef~t the Santa Mon~ca
Girl's Club. The proceeds from the entry fees and match
race challenges as well as refreshment ~ncome will all
go to the 'Club.
WHEREAS, such proceeds from the race are ~n the
public ~nterest, and for the benefit of the City of Santa
Monica.
WHEREAS, the closing of Third Street to vehicular
traffic between Washington Avenue and Wilshire Boulevard is
necessary for the safety and protection of persons
participating ~n and attending sa~d race.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION l.
That the closing of Third Street
between Washington Avenue and wilshire Boulevard on August 21,
1977, between the hours of 11:00 o'clock a.m. and 1:00 o'clock
p.m. ~s necessary for the safety and protect~on of persons
part~c~pating in and attend~ng the bed race to be held thereat.
SECTION 2.
That Third Street, in the City of
Santa Monica, shall be barricaded and closed to veh~cular
traffic between the hours of 11:00 o'clock a.m. and 1:00
o'clock p.m. on August 21, 1977.
ADOPTED and APPROVED this 9th

1977.
