RESOLUTION NO. 4920 (cCS)

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA MONICA APPROVING AlVD RATIFYING A MEMORANDUM
OF UNDERSTANDING WITH TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT EM-
PLOYEES ORGA~IZATIONS UNDER PARAGRAPH 13(c) OF THE
URBAN ~~SS TRANSPORTATION ACT OF 1964, AS ~~NDED.
I~REAS, on November 24, 1976, the Santa Monica City Council authorized
the City Manager to submit a grant app11cat1on to the federal Urban Mass
Transportat1on Adm1nistrat1on, under the Urban Mass Transportat1on Act of 1964
as amended (hereinafter called the Act), to ass1st 1n the purchase of seventeen
buses and three hundred benches.
~~EREAS, Section 13(c) of the Act specif1es that as a condition of any
f1nanc1al assistance, ~air and equ1table arrangements be made, as determined
by the Secretary of Labor, to protect employees aga1nst a worsening of their
pos1tion w1thin the Transportat1on Department as a result of federal funding;
WHEREAS, an agreement has been reached between the adm1n1stration and
Transportation Department employees represented by the Un1ted Transportation
Union, Santa Mon1ca Local 1785, the Public Employees Un1on, International
Brotherhood of Teamsters, and the Mun1c1pa1 Employees Assoc1at1on.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SN~TA MONICA DOES RESOLVE
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City Council does hereby approve and ratify that memoran-
dum of understand1ng executed by the City Manager and the representatives of
sa1d employee organizations on the 1st day of September 1977.

SECTION 2. The Clty Clerk shall certlfy to the adoption of thlS reso-
lutlon and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be ln full force and
effect.
ADOPTED and APPROVED this 13 th day of September 1977.
