RESOLUTIO~ AUTHORIZING THE FILI~G OF AN APPLICATION ~~END~~~T WITH THE
DEPART~lliKT OF TRANSPORTATION, UNITED STATES OF A\~RICA, FOR
A GRfu~T UNDER THE URB~~ ~~SS TRfu~SPORTATION ACT OF 1964, AS N\~NDED
~REREAS, the Secretary of Transportation ~s author~zed to make grants for mass
transportat~on proJects,
WHEREAS, the contract for financ~al ass~stance w~ll impose certa~n obllgatlons
upon the appl~cant, including the provis~on by ~t of the local share of project
costs,
~REREAS, lt lS required by the U S. Department of Transportat1on ~n accord wIth
the provis1ons of Title VI of the C~vll Rlghts Act of 1964, that 1n connect1on
with the fIling of an appl1cation for asslstance under the Urban Mass Transpor-
tat10n Act of 1964, as amended, the appllcant g~ve an assurance that 1t w1II com-
ply with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the U. S. Department of
TransportatIon requ1rements thereunder, and
~~ERE.~, It lS the goal of the Appllcant that m1nor1ty business enterpr1se be
utIlized to the fullest extent pOSSIble 1n connect1on w~th th~s proJect, and that
definIte procedures shall be establIshed and admin1stered to ensure that m1nority
businesses shall have the maximum feaslble opportun~ty to compete for contracts,
when procuring construct1on contracts, suppl1es, equipment contracts, or consultant
and other serVlces.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Counc~l of the City of Santa Mon~ca as
follows:
SECTION 1.
That the City Manager IS authorized to execute and fIle an
amendment to an existlng Clty app1~cat~on on behalf of the
Santa Mon1ca Munlcipal Bus LInes with the U.S. Department of
Transportation, to ald In the financing of a project to meet
requirements of Sectlon 15 of the Urban Mass Transportat~on
Act of 1964, as amended.
SECTION 2.
That the C1ty ~illnager ~s author1zed to execute and flle WIth
such app1icat1on amendment an assurance or any other document
requ1red by the U. S. Department of Transportat~on effectuating
the purposes of TItle VI of the C~v11 R1ghts Act of 1964.
SECTION 3.
That James D. W1lllams, Clty ~illnager, 1S authorized to furn1sh
such add~t1onal ~nformation as the U.S. ~epartment of Transpor-
tation may requlre 1n connect1on w~th the applIcatIon or the
proJect.
SECTION 4.
That the C1ty Manager IS authorized to set forth and execute
affirmat1ve m~nority bUS1ness pol1c1es in connectlon w1th the
proJect's procurement needs.
